Here is the Natural And Safe Weed Killer Recipe
To make your own batch of dandelion and other weed killer: mix Apple Cider Vinegar with a squirt of Dish Soap into a spray bottle.
For those of you who like specific measurements: the original recipe called for a gallon of vinegar with 1 ounce of dish soap.
Gently mix together so it doesn’t create a lot of bubbles.
When I tested the natural and safe weed killer recipe I didn’t have a full gallon of vinegar so I just eye-balled my vinegar to soap ratio. However, I am pretty sure I put more dish soap into my solution than the recipe requires.
I sprayed the mixture onto some dandelions growing in the cement between my driveway and sidewalk.
The original post said to expect 48 hours before the weeds begin to shrivel up and die.
However, after just 24 hours the dandelions were completely brown. The next day the weeds were pretty much the same in their level of deadness. Again, on the third day they basically looked the same so I pulled them out of sidewalk.
The weeds came right up without any pulling.
I had also sprayed some other
weeds along a flower bed and they too died off just as they normally do when we use store-bought weed killer.
The Safety Benefits of the Natural Weed Killer Recipe
This Natural and Safe Weed Killer Recipe is ideal if you have children or pets.
Your standard chemical based weed killers are dangerous for your family and often required me to not allow the kids in the areas I sprayed for at least a day.
But there really wasn’t anything I could do stop the cats. And of course, they are curious and want to come check out the new smells. It always concerned me.
This homemade weed killer recipe gives me peace of mind!
This is a really good way to save some money as well! Summer gets really expensive. Between new flowers, mulch and grass maintenance we put hundreds of dollars into our yard every spring and summer. This weed killer recipe will save us some green!
It also makes it really easy for me to whip up a batch and spray myself.
When we used the chemical based weed killers from the store, I usually had to wait for my husband to have the time and energy to spray the weeds. Not anymore!
