Hershey’s S’moreTrail Mix

by Cassie on June 10, 2013

In our house when we have a fire in the fire pit, S’mores are almost a requirement. Everyone in the family LOVES them. But what do you do when it is raining outside or if you are on a long car ride and not around a campfire? You Guessed it (or maybe you didn’t LOL) You make Hershey’s S’more Trail Mix! I know…Awesome right!

Hershey's S'more Trail Mix

What you need to make Hershey’s S’more Trail Mix:

  1. Marshmallows -I used bite sized ones
  2. Graham Crackers -I used Honey Teddy Grahams
  3. CHOCOLATE!!!!!! (The best part if you ask me :) ) -I used the Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Drops
  4. Hungry Kids or Husband…that is if you want to share! hahahaha

How to make Hershey’s S’more Trail Mix:

Everyone knows that most Trail Mix Recipes are easy to make for the most part. Mostly you just mix the stuff you want to be in it together, How much easier can it be?

On the Pinterest pin where I found this idea, It didn’t give an exact amount of each ingredient that you should add. So, being the “rebel” that I am ( I could be a rebel if I wanted…don’t hate)  I just eye bald it. It looked like the original recipe had Pecans or some other type of nut added to it, but having the pickiest eaters on the face of the planet living in my house…I opted not to add them.

What the Fam. Thought of them:

Well, this picture speaks for itself!

The Kids and even my Husband liked them!

(Even the neighbor girl that was over when I made them)

Mini Fresh Strawberry Pie Recipe

Fresh Strawberry Pie Recipe

After almost five years of living in my neighborhood I realized I have the most amazing neighbor ever! This discovery came when she brought me a tub of FRESH strawberries right out of her garden!! I told her I would turn them into a yummy fresh strawberry pie. I think she is hoping I will bring her a piece. I guess it would be the right thing to do. I’m still thinking it over though.

This is a really really really good strawberry pie recipe at PinTriedIt.com!!

My sister over at Stitch11.com had recently made a strawberry pie. She told me it is SO easy. So I Pinsearched Strawberry Pie and it took me to a recipe from AllRecipe.com. After reading the basic instructions I turned to the reviews of others who have tested this fresh strawberry pie recipe out for themselves. Once I read through their experiences- I decided to take their advice and went ahead and altered the recipe slightly.

I have to say,  it is possibly the best fresh strawberry pie I have ever eaten in my entire 29 years of existence! It is amazing!

Ingredients

  • Pie Crust (I used 12 mini pie crusts but the recipe calls for a 9 inch crust)
  • 1 Quart of Fresh Strawberries
  • 3/4 Cup of White Sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons of Corn Starch
  • 1/2 Cup of Water
  • Cool Whip

Fresh Strawberry Pie Instructions

1. Fill the pie crust(s) with fresh strawberries- save about 1/4 of the strawberries for later use.

2. Mash the remaining Strawberries

3. Add your Sugar, Corn Starch and Water

4. Heat in medium Saucepan on med/high heat

5. Stir Constantly until it boils and continue stirring for 2-3 minutes

6. The mixture will gel up and you can spoon into your crust(s) over the fresh strawberries

7. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours

8. Top with whipped cream

9. Eat

10. Think about Sharing with Your Neighbor

11. Eat the rest

This altered fresh strawberry pie recipe is perfect! The gel is just amazing. I want to dip everything in it! Cake, chocolate, marshmallows, celery sticks….You wait and see! Taste the gel you make on the stove top and you will see what I mean!

This is such an easy desert but it does take time.

However, I don’t think the 2-3 hours of waiting is really necessary. Me and the kids ate one just after adding the warm gelled strawberry filling and it was YUMMY!

Easy Whipped Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

After a long day and a late night- I finally had the kids in bed. I was in need of some way to just relax and enjoy a moment. I needed chocolate!

Pinterest always has amazing desert recipes. And yet I cannot find anything that I have all the ingredients for. After about an hour I decide to go back to the top of Pinterest. Lo and behold I see a recipe for EASY Whipped Chocolate Buttercream Frosting.

I know what you’re thinking- Frosting is for cake. Don’t judge!

Chocolate frosting is an excellent snack to enjoy at midnight!

Especially during the end of the month!

What you Need for Easy Whipped Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

This recipe has only 2 ingredients. You most likely have these in your home already so no special trip to the grocery for this one!

  • 2 cups of chocolate morsels
  • 4 sticks of butter

How to Make It

Making the whipped chocolate buttercream icing was so simple but takes time.

1. Melt the chocolate and butter.

2. Cool in fridge until hardened. Butter and chocolate will separate.

3. Set the pan out to get back to room temperature.

4. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.

My Experience

This Easy Whipped Chocolate Buttercream Frosting was simple to make. But took a long time. It took about 2 hours to harden in my fridge and another half of an hour to get it back to room temperature. So I spent a lot of time waiting for my late-night desert. Thankfully I snuck in a few bites of chocolate before I began melting them.

I made half a batch and used Hershey bars as my chocolate ‘morsels’.

This was a very simple way to make a whipped chocolate buttercream frosting. I expected the taste of this whipped icing to be more soft and smooth. But it was actually quite the opposite. The chocolate frosting actually held a very strong flavor! Almost a bitter chocolate taste and quickly became too much for my midnight snack. (probably a good thing) However,  I can only imagine how amazing this would be as frosting to a vanilla cake or even with strawberries!

The icing really is great and was definitely easy!
