There is nothing in this world more awkward than
someone giving you a Christmas present and you having nothing in return! So this year, I have decided to stock up on several neutral gifts that just about anyone would love. My gift spending budget is small but I do not want the gifts I give to scream- “HEY! I spent less than five bucks on you!” or even whisper “You were just an after-thought”. So, of course a hand made items is a great way to give a thoughtful gift. However, it is not always the most budget friendly. Fortunately for me, this year I had Pinterest on my side!
I found a great pin that shows you an easy way to make fleece scarves! With fleece fabric being less than $3 a yard at Walmart- I was able to make beautiful soft fleece scarves for only $2 a person!!
I happen to believe this is such a great way to give a warm Christmas gift without breaking the budget.
Supplies for 3 Fleece Scarves:
- 2 Yards of Fabric
- Sharp scissors
With 2 yards of fabric, I was able to fold the fabric, lengthwise, into thirds and cut out 3 extra large scarves. Because these are made with fleece you do not have to worry about frayed edges or pulling out the sewing machine. Then, for an added touch you can shred the ends of the scarf.
My Trial and Error
The original pinner post from AllSamsIdea added a nice little twist to her fleece scarf ends- you can view her tutorial. However, when I attempted her idea- the end of my scarf looked really messy. Each strip was flipped and going in unnatural directions. So, I would suggest sticking with a simple frayed end on your fleece scarf.
