Quick and Easy Mummy Dogs
Today Cassie and I got together for another pin test day. This usually means we spend most of our time finding a way to feed our kids rather than working on testing pinterest pins. However, today was an easy day for us as we recently ran across a quick kid friendly recipe that is also very fitting for Halloween- Mummy Dogs!!
These mummy dogs are really just a spin on pigs-in-a-blanket. Let us show you how easy they really are!
(While most of the recipes we found use crescent rolls we only had canned biscuits- so that’s what we used.)
1. We rolled the biscuit dough into a thin layer and cut it into strips. This makes for much easier wrapping.
2. Wrap the dough strips around the dogs. Don’t worry if it is a little bit messy- just have fun with it.
3. Place the uncooked mummy dogs on a greased baking sheet and place into a pre-heated 350 degree oven for approximately 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
4. Use mustard or your favorite condiment and dot some eyes on your mummy dogs.
VOILA! Dinner is ready!
We served our Halloween mummy dogs with a side of macaroni and cheese. This meal will please even the pickiest food kid-critics. Yes, we have kids who do not like hot dogs. (weird kids!??) However, all of our mummy dogs were eaten.
Even if your kids don’t like the biscuit and hot dog combination- it is still fun for them to pull it apart and eat each ingredient separately.
We thought these were great. We
used Ballpark all Beef hot dogs and Pillsbury buttermilk biscuits. We did not use the cooking instructions from the canned biscuits but instead followed the baking instructions from the original recipe. They turned out perfectly.
