Somehow over the years I have collected a lot of glass vases, jars and miscellaneous items that I have no clue with to do with. While browsing Pinterest I found a great way to turn some of those
pieces into interesting and eye-catching decor for my home! A Pin by Elizabeth Matthews said you can give your glass pieces the look of being frosted by painting your glass with glue and food coloring! I wasn’t so sure I believed it so I tested it out for myself. See below:
Immediately after painting I was convinced it was a Pin-Failed-It. The paint was separating and just looked like a big mess. I decided to leave it alone until the morning and was pleasantly surprised to find it and see it actually looking like frosted glass. However, there were a lot of flaws with it and I learned a lot after a few more attempts at perfecting it. Check out my tips:
- Spread the glue evenly- any clumps will show up later
- Do your best to cover everything
- Do not expect perfection. Because the glue just naturally separates- surely there is some chemical bonding explanation out there somewhere, there will be inconsistencies
- Do not get it wet! The glue will just wash right off. Which is good if you want to start over
Enjoy your beautiful new pieces of artwork as you turn boring glass into eye-popping and light-catching home decor pieces.
