Glitter Easter Eggs are a lot of things. They are fun, unique, special and could be used as that prize or mystery egg during an egg hunt. There are many reasons why you should glitter easter eggs.
But—There are also a lot of things to know before you begin.
For some reason I thought glittering eggs would be super easy to do. I knew anything glitter would be messy, especially with my three and six year old daughters in the room ‘helping’. However, nothing prepared me for the type of mess and headache glittering these eggs actually
Modge Podge to Glitter Easter Eggs?
The original pin cam from Texas Type A Mom. I was attempting to follow her method, using Modge Podge to glitter Easter eggs.
I tried it.
I failed it.
It was horrible. The glitter would not cover evenly and the time to dry was just making it all feel impossible.
While I am sure it is possible to use Modge Podge to glitter eggs, I found it to be a messy and incredibly hard thing to actually do.
Spray Adhesive Glue to Glitter Eggs?
I then attempted to use Elmer’s Craft Spray Adhesive to glitter Easter eggs.
The glitter did stick better.
But the over-spray caused a lot of damage to my cell phone sitting nearby, the floor and the table. So be sure to properly guard your surroundings before haphazardly spraying glue all over yourself and the kitchen.
With the right preparation, if I were to glitter Easter eggs again, I would stick with the Spray
When I finished this project there was glitter glued to everything around me. Actually, it has been several days and there is still glitter on my kitchen table. But the eggs look beautiful!!!
BTW, I hard boiled my eggs and I still ate them. After cracking and peeling the egg, the glitter rinsed right off. They were yummy!
