“Cottage cheese”, “hail damage”, “orange peel skin”, “dimples”…whatever you call cellulite- It’s not attractive! Many of us would love to lose or even reduce the appearance of cellulite. Which is probably why this pinterest pin from GirlsLoveStyle.com says you can rub coffee grounds on your cellulite to reduce its appearance.
I recently lost 60 pounds (Yay Me!). Although I feel fantastic in my ‘new skin’. It really needs some major toning! However, until I can get myself into a regular workout routine- I’m hoping Pinterest can help smooth out my thighs for the summer!
How Would Coffee Reduce Cellulite?
So the Pin says the main active ingredient in most cellulite reduction products is caffeine. So it must make sense that coffee grounds would do the job! Right?
Well, first I wanted to verify if those expensive cellulite creams really do use Caffeine.
I checked several products around the web where I could find their ingredients. Many do in fact contain Caffeine. So, it gives this pin a little more credibility.
Make Your Own Cellulite Treatment at Home
To make your own cellulite treatment from home you need 5 things:
- 1/2 a cup off coffee grounds
- hot water
- 2 teaspoons of olive oil
- plastic kitchen wrap
- About 40 minutes
To begin, mix enough hot water into your coffee grounds to make a paste.
Then add the 2 teaspoons of olive oil to the coffee ground paste mixture.
Then go someplace you don’t mind making a mess. I went to my back porch. The original instructions suggest placing something like newspaper below you. Then you can rub the anti-cellulite treatment over your troubled dimply areas. I chose to focus on my thighs. Use a circular motion as you rub the cellulite reducing treatment on your skin.
Using the kitchen plastic wrap, you will now cover the area by wrapping it.
Now you can sit and relax for 30 minutes while the caffeine in this coffee ground cellulite treatment does its job. Then, it’s time to shower it all off. Be sure to get the coffee grounds into the drain quickly so they don’t stain your tub.
I didn’t have any issues with staining. But I chose to run a couple inches of water into the bottom of the tub first to keep them from sitting in one place too long.
Does it Work?
As I type this out I am mentally re-living the moments as I did this test. I recall sitting and watching the clock- anxious to see how great my thighs would look!
I imagined smooth, dimple-free, legs looking smoking hot!
My expectations were pretty high.
To show you how effective this pinterest pin-test was- I must first show you the before picture
my husband took of my thighs.

Can I get a drum roll please?

Are you looking at this?! Do you see how “effective” this cellulite treatment was? It made it WORSE!!!!!!
Look at it again:
Did the Dimples Go Away?
I wondered how long my cellulite would be worse than usual.
Someone told me that many treatments will cause the cellulite to break lose and may actually appear worse for a while and then get better as “things” settle.
Three days later it began to look better.
Five days later it looks about like it did before I began the test.
I would never in my entire life ever do this again!
This Homemade Cellulite Treatment was a failure.
