I am always looking for new snack ideas for my kids. When I saw a pin for 3 ingredient fruit snacks on Pinterest it was instantly on my to do list.
What you need:
- 1 (3 ounce) package of jello (flavor is up to you)
- 2 (.25 ounce) envelopes of unflavored Gelatin
- 1/3 cup of water
- Jello mold (I used silicone ice cube trays that I bought at Wal-mart)
Sprinkle the gelatin over the water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat and stir until gelatin is completely dissolved. Pour into molds and allow to set at least 20 minutes.

use Sugar-Free Jello instead of the regular kind, just substitute the 3 ounce packet of jello for a sugar free one. It works the same you just get a little fewer fruit snacks than with the sugared Jello. (I also tested the sugar free and it works!)
- You can also substitute the water for…wait for it……Juice! (Awesome, I know) We tried a batch of fruit snacks made with grape flavored V-Fusion. I really like this idea because it ups the nutritional value!
- I would recommend using a silicone mold. They were a little hard to remove, and I can not imagine trying to get them out of something that you can not flip inside out.
- If you decide to make these I would recommend letting them set for more than 20 minutes, or taking them out of the mold and letting them set for another 20 minutes or so…They were a tad sticky at first.
This is the fruit snacks on a plate…sideways on a plate!
These were a hit with the kids. They loved the fun shapes of the “fruit snacks”. I also liked that I could pick the
flavor and that no one would be stuck with the yucky color/flavor like store bought snacks.(The green and yellow ones are yucky in our house) However, the original recipe said that they had the “texture of fruit snacks “. Being a fruit snackaholic I have never tasted a fruit snack with this texture. They were more like a gummy worm or gummy bear than a fruit snack. Don’t get me wrong, I really liked them. They were easy to make and I really liked the “juice” version. I also think that these would be a great and different snack for someone that is diabetic, as long as you are using the Sugar-Free Jello! I am not really sure if this is more cost effective than the store bought ones, but I love the idea of knowing what is in them and being able to make changes as I see fit. (such as different juice and jello flavor combinations)
Thank you Six Sisters Stuff for the recipe!
