If you have been on Pinterest in the last year or two, I am sure that you have seen the beautiful painting of the cherry blossoms made by using a soda bottle! (If you haven’t seen it, you are clearly not a pin-a-holic like me) I have been wanting to test this pin for a while, I have just never really got around to it. (I am a self proclaimed slacker…don’t hate!) After redoing my daughters bedroom, I was in need of some “art” for the walls, and the Cherry Blossoms with a Soda Bottle painting seemed like an easy enough painting to make which appealed to my inner slacker! It also seemed relatively inexpensive which appealed to my inner cheapskate! Let the pin test begin!
What you need for the Cherry Blossoms with a Soda Bottle Painting:
- Paint… I used a pink and a dark gray paint, but you can use what ever colors you like.
- A soda bottle
- A paint brush
- Something to paint on…I bought a three pack of canvas from Wal-Mart (the flat cheap ones)
How to Start your Cherry Blossoms with a Soda Bottle Painting:
First you need to paint your branches…As you can see below, I am far from Van Gogh or Rembrant.
You get your pink paint ready…
Dip your soda bottle in your paint…
Carefully place it on your canvas or paper…
Then lift the soda bottle and take in all the awesomeness…
I know you are loving all of my pictures! I got a little carried away with the camera and could not decide which pics to use…So I am using them ALL!!! I know you love it, don’t act like you don’t. Aren’t I an amazing photographer? I think I may go into business and take pictures of all the beautiful Awesomeness I see… Like pretty rocks and puppies and babies and grass…Yes grass can be beautiful to! And I also know you love reading all of my rambling on and on and on and on about my future picture taking plans…It is pure Awesomeness. It is hard work living in my mind sometimes. I could be ADD? Maybe not, maybe I am a hypochondriac? Nah, I am just random…yep, that is what I am going with! Okay, okay, I will get back on track now and tell you more about my Cherry Blossoms with a Soda Bottle painting.
I really don’t want to talk about the cherry blossoms anymore, I am just a tad to slap happy right now. Don’t get me wrong, the cherry blossom painting was fun, and so easy a child could do it. But now all I can focus on is getting my camera and taking pictures of beautiful blades of green grass with morning dew on them. If you don’t think that can be BEEEautiful then Google it…cause it is! Here, I did it for you…Google search for Beautiful green green grass with dew! If you don’t like that, then you are clearly not in touch with nature! Go Green Dangnabbit!
Okay, I am really going to get back to the Cherry Blossoms with a Soda Bottle painting now. If you could not tell, I have had WAY to much coffee and WAY to many candy corns! Although my cherry blossom paintings did not look as good as the ideal one from pinterest, my daughters still loved them! They are also not near as horrible as some of the other cherry blossoms with a soda bottle paintings that are on pinterest!
I am not sure why my cherry blossom painting didn’t have the little dot in the center, but you can always add one with a paint brush if you want to. It may be because I used a Mt. Dew bottle instead of a Coca-cola one like the original pinterest pin did? I am not really sure whether or not to call this a pin fail or a pin proved it? It is hard to say, while my painting clearly doesn’t look as good as the inspirational painting it could purely be from my lack of skills! Although I am not sure it takes a rocket scientist to dip a bottle into paint. I will let you be the judge.
