This year, I am trying to get creative in the way I decorate my Easter eggs. I’ve been searching Pinterest to find unique, yet kid-friendly, egg decorating projects. I came across a pin with eggs that had been decorated using paper napkins. They looked pretty simple, so I decided to give it a try.
All you need for this project are hard boiled eggs, paper napkins, egg whites, a paintbrush, and a pair of scissors.
I purchased packs of paper napkins at the dollar tree, as well as Wal-mart. The cost was right at $1 per pack.
Instead of using hard boiled eggs, I picked up a pack of dyeable eggs from Wal-Mart for $1.97.
Now, I was ready to get started. I first cracked open an egg and separated the egg white. Next, I separated the layers of the napkin. (You will need to remove the back layer.) I found that if I cut or rip a corner it was easier to get them separated.
I cut the napkins into four squares. Next I placed a piece of napkin over the egg and brushed the egg white on until the napkin was smooth. I then cut the excess napkin from the egg and let it dry.
It is that simple!
If you want to get creative, you can cut individual images/shapes from the napkins and apply them individually to make your own design.
I found this to be a very easy project that would be great for kids.
However, it is important that you keep a close eye on them since raw eggs are being used. (Please make sure that children do not ingest. any of the raw egg mixture.)
Additional Napkin Designs
I decided to mix it up a bit and create some boy-themed camouflage eggs.
I also made these unique zebra striped eggs.
